If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

JAMES 2

Faith&Deeds - A nonprofit corporation - dba "The Brook"

What We Do

  • Meet practical needs by offering help to those who are hungry, hurting, and in need of hope—spiritually, emotionally, and physically.
  • Teach God’s Word with clarity and conviction, grounding all outreach in biblical truth.
  • Serve with compassion—motivated by the love, grace, and humility of Jesus Christ.
  • Disciple believers to grow in faith and become active participants in ministry and service.
  • Empower others to share Christ’s love in their communities through equipping and training.
  • Mobilize churches, leaders, and volunteers to reach the poor, care for the broken, and proclaim the gospel.
  • Focus on transformation—working toward restored communities and renewed lives through gospel-centered outreach.
  • Act as a place of refuge—offering spiritual support, relational care, and hope for the future.
  • Direct people to plug in to the local church

What We Don’t Do

  • We do not offer long-term relief without a path toward spiritual and personal transformation.
  • We do not provide housing.
  • We do not operate independently of the gospel—our mission is always Christ-centered and rooted in Scripture.
  • We do not water down biblical truth—we serve with love and grace while upholding the authority of God’s Word.
  • We do not replace the local church—we partner with churches rather than take their place.
  • We do not prioritize programs over people—relationships, healing, and discipleship come first.people together and to heal the divisions that so often tear us apart.

Our Story

In the heart of Temecula Valley, surrounded by rolling hills historic streets, and plentiful vineyards, The Brook

began with something simple: a hot meal and a heart to serve.  It All Started in the Sam Hicks Park.

In 2007, Danny and Marles, began noticing more people experiencing homelessness in the Temecula Valley.

Moved by compassion and faith, he and a few volunteers brought warm meals to the local park near the gazebo.

Every Sunday afternoon, folding tables were set up, food was served, and strangers became neighbors. These

“Feeds” became a source of comfort and consistency for those struggling to survive.

The volunteers didn’t just serve food, but they listened. They learned names, heard stories, and reminded each

person that they were seen, valued, and loved.

By 2008, the need had grown and so had the volunteers. Sherri Mahoney joined the informal weekly meals

which evolved into The Brook, an organization with a mission: To feed the hungry, restore dignity, and reflect

God’s love through word and deed.

The Bible declares: “My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue,

but in deed and in truth. (1 John 3:18 NKJV)

With support from local churches and businesses, The Brook became a reliable source of meals, supplies, and

encouragement for individuals across Temecula, Murrieta, and surrounding areas.

Over the years, The Brook has expanded its services to include:

  • Weekly hot meals served at Crosspoint Church in Temecula, California.
  • Hygiene and clothing distributions
  • Shampoo and haircuts
  • Major Holiday meals and gifts given on Christmas
  • Baptisms and serving communion
  • An encouraging Biblical exhortation and time of worship

But no matter how our programs grow, our purpose stays the same: to honor every person we serve.

Today, The Brook serves over 50 meals a week powered by a dedicated team of volunteers, donors, and partners who believe in the power of help, hope, and honor.  Whether it's a warm meal, a smile, or a simple conversation, every act of kindness helps build a stronger, more compassionate Temecula Valley. At The Brook, people find refuge through God’s living water.
